B7 Stud Bolts: ASTM A193 Grade B7 Alloy Steel Studs for High Pressure & High Temperature Service
ASTM A193 Grade B7 stud bolts, commonly known as B7 stud bolts, are one of the most popular heavy-duty fasteners for critical industrial connections. Manufactured from chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, B7 studs are heat-treated to achieve high tensile strength and excellent resistance to creep under high temperature conditions.
B7 stud bolts are typically paired with ASTM A194 Grade 2H heavy hex nuts. This matching combination is the standard assembly for flanges, pressure vessels, boilers and oil & gas pipelines. B7 stud bolts can be supplied as full thread studs, double end studs with two threaded ends, or custom-length studs according to project drawings.
Material & Mechanical Properties of B7 Stud Bolts
B7 stud bolts follow ASTM A193 specification. The raw material is 4140/42CrMo chrome moly alloy steel. After quenching and tempering heat treatment, B7 stud bolts maintain stable mechanical performance under working temperatures up to 538°C.
- Minimum tensile strength: 860 MPa
- Minimum yield strength: 725 MPa
- Surface options: Black oxide, plain finish, PTFE coating, hot dip galvanizing
Common Types of B7 Stud Bolts
- Double End B7 Stud Bolts: Threaded on both ends, plain shank in the middle. This is the most common type for flange assembly.
- Fully Threaded B7 Studs: Continuous thread along the whole length, used when the clamping space is limited.
- Custom B7 Stud Bolts: OEM non-standard length, special thread sizes such as UNC, UNF, BSP threads are available on request.
